The demographics are some of the strongest. College towns remain healthy because of the student population. Towson, MD and the surrounding area boast at least 6 colleges. The population keeps the bars and restaurants alive. Even in some small towns, without the college students, many of the local pubs would surely not survive these tough economic times. Take Hobart College; they have a thriving few spots for food and drink.

Some other areas that do well because of the student population are George Washington University, Georgetown University, and American University. In upstate New York, there is Hamilton College and they are peppered with great dining options: to be found at UofEating.com.
